Well, we have fallen a bit behind on postings, so let's get caught up shall we!
October 10, 2024, We took a trip back in time with ZOSO - The Ultimate Led Zeppelin Experience when they stopped to perform in Birmingham, AL.
The Opening Chords of Custard Pie rang out as the guys hit the stage for what was to be a sonic bombardment upon our senses for the next 2 hours. Good Times, Bad Times was next and then straight into Communication Breakdown for a blistering performance of that classic tune.
Matt Jernigan's vocals are incredible as he showcased during such songs as The Lemon Song, Immigrant Song, Black Dog, Matt can cover Robert Plant better than anyone else I have heard, as well as conveying the image of Plant as it was back in the heyday of Zep.
Adam Sandling is another extremely talented musician, who provides a variety of sounds for the band throughout the evening, from holding down those epic bass lines of JPJ, to keyboards, mandolin, Adam covers it all and is a critical part of the show, that can not be as is without him. The band even pulled out a rare track not played very often "Sick Again".
From there, the band continued the journey through Zeppelin's catalog with "Thank You" and then into one of the most classic tunes ever, "Since I been Loving You", which James Rotondi told me in a recent interview is his favorite song to play live, and man just let me dsay that it is very eveident as to why! What a incredible cover of the track. Next up was "Kashmir", we all knew it was coming when James grabbed that classic Dan Electro Black and White guitar. Just another example were these guys perform to thier utmost abilities to represent the true Zeppelin Experience, adn we are not done yet!
For me, the final 4 songs are the most epic in LZ entire catalog, Song remains the same, No Quarter - best sex song ever!! What a groove! The band blasted through these songs with precision and grace to the extent that you could have closed your eyes and thought it was the original band on stage!
Next up is a true classic track that forever gave us the Late Great John Bonham, and I am speaking of no other than Mody Dick. Now this is the part of the show that you absolutly do not want to miss. Bevan Davies does such a masterful job of prefomring this solo as true to John as he possibly can. Bevan has the setup right on his drums, the bass thunders everytime he kicks it, and the pounding of the toms and snare is so remeniscant, and of course he kept true to john tradition of playing with his hands, and was he playing! He pounded those drums with his hands just the same as with his sticks! Truly amazing performance and musician.
So now we come to the closing song, and you know exactly which one that is, "Stairway to Heaven"from the Classic Double neck Guitar, the strong vocals, and the jam when the rest join in, Wow....was an incredible ending to a fantastic show. One of the best live bands I have ever seen.
So if you get a chance to see ZOSO- The Ultimate Led Zeppelin Expereince - Then by all means go! As for myself, I will see them again in December when they open for Zakk Sabbath @The Brooklyn Bowl on December 20, 2024. Also on the bill that night are The Iron Maidens.
Here a small gallery of more photos from the show.
