Concert Review: Sabaton and Judas Priest – Huntsville, AL, May 7, 2024

Performance Highlights:

Sabaton:



Opening the evening with their signature military-themed power metal, Sabaton delivered an electrifying performance that set the tone for the night. The Swedish band, renowned for their high-energy shows and historical narratives, immediately connected with the audience. Their setlist was a perfect blend of fan favorites like "Primo Victoria" and "Ghost Division," alongside newer tracks from their latest album, "The Great War Part II."

Lead vocalist Joakim Brodén was in top form, his powerful voice resonating through the venue as he engaged with the crowd, encouraging sing-alongs and raising the atmosphere to a fever pitch. The stage design was impressive, featuring massive backdrops and pyrotechnics that added to the grandeur of their performance. Their storytelling through songs about historical battles was not just entertaining but also immersive, making every song feel like a chapter in a larger epic.





Judas Priest:



Following Sabaton, Judas Priest took the stage with the kind of legendary presence that has made them metal icons for decades. Opening with "Hell Bent for Leather," the band immediately commanded attention, and their performance was a testament to their enduring skill and charisma. Rob Halford, the Metal God himself, was in excellent form, his vocals sharp and powerful despite the years. His stage presence, coupled with his signature leather attire and motorcycle gear, added a classic touch to the night.

The setlist was a masterful mix of their greatest hits, including "Breaking the Law," "You’ve Got Another Thing Comin'," and "Painkiller." The band’s musicianship was flawless, with Glenn Tipton and Richie Faulkner delivering impressive guitar solos that reminded everyone why they are among the best in the business. The visual elements—light shows, smoke effects, and elaborate stage setups—complemented their powerful sound, making for a truly immersive experience.
